How to grow Sweet Corn from Seed

Step 1: When planting Sweet Corn make sure the soil is warm between 55 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit or 12 to 18 degrees Celsius. This will help in germination of the seeds.

Step 2: The planting depth of sweet corn should be one inch or 2.5 centimeters below the soil. You will want to space the corn 12 inches apart or 30 centimeters.

Step 3: You will want to space the rows of corn 3 feet or 91 centimeters apart. Corn will mature in 60 to 100 days. It depends on a few things like how warm it is during the growing time and the variety of sweet corn you will be using.

***Pro Tip: Your sweet corn will be ready to harvest when the ears turn dark green. The silky tops will start to turn brown and the kernels become soft and plump. You can do a squeeze test if you are unsure of the corn being ripe. Simply squeeze the kernel of corn and if the juice appears to be milky and not clear then your corn is ready to harvest.
